Happy Birthday Nenny!

We celebrated Nenny's Birthday at our house last Saturday night. Jason smoked some delicious chicken, and Joan and Tammy brought yummy sides. We always have great food when we get together!!

After dinner, the four kids went upstairs to the bonus room. We thought they were just playing, but it turns out that they were putting together a birthday show for Nenny. This had to be one of the cutest things I have seen! Between their instruments and the instruments they gave the adults to use, it got a little loud up there, but it was so much fun!! I hope it made Nenny feel as special as she is!!

We love you Nenny, and we hope you had a great birthday celebration!! Happy Birthday!

Bluegrass Marlins vs JCC Tiger Sharks

Brody's third swim meet was an away meet at the Jewish Community Center in Bellemeade. This was a very impressive facility! They even had heated pools, which was helpful during this meet...it was cold!!

Since Brody had been working on his backstroke with Coach Will, he was able to do it in the meet. He was also entered in a mini IM, which is 25 yard backstroke down and 25 yard freestyle back. This made 4 races for him: 25 yard freestyle, 100 yard freestyle relay, 25 yard backstroke, and the mini IM. He was so excited to be in 4 races, instead of only 2!

Ready to jump in for his first race of the day...25 yard freestyle

He started out the 100 yard freestyle relay by passing the person in the second lane to get a slight lead on the competition!

Colby found his way to the 6 and under girls area to play...he loves the ladies!

Bluegrass won the meet again!!! This makes the Bluegrass Marlins undefeated! Brody had a great day...finished 15th in his 25 yard freestyle open with a time of 1:00, his relay finished 5th place, finished 15th in his first ever backstroke with a time of 2:30, and finished 12th in his first ever IM with a time of 3:27. Great job Brody!!!

Summer Swim Lessons

We decided it was time for Colby to get back into some swim lessons! Ever since being out of the water for his recovery period, he has been a little hesitant of getting in the pool. Luckily, one of Brody's coaches, Coach Will, was willing to give Colby and Brody lessons. He has been great with both boys, and they absolutely love him! Colby is working on blowing his bubbles when going under, kicking his feet, and using his arms. He is having a tough time getting all 3 of those going at the same time! I'm sure it will come with time and practice, though.

Brody has been working hard on getting proper technique down for his freestyle and his backstroke. He is doing really well with this, and hopefully it will benefit him as he gets older.

Bluegrass Marlins vs Langford Farms

Brody's second swim meet was an away meet at Langford Farms in Mt. Juliet. It was an early morning and a long day, but again, it was well worth it! Brody swam great, and both boys had a lot of fun being out in the sun.

All of the 6 under boys...a fun bunch

Brody's Freestyle Relay Team

The meet ended with Bluegrass winning! Brody's relay earned 5th place, and Brody received a Super Swim Ribbon for his individual freestyle. He swam the entire length of the pool without holding the rope for a break! This was his first time to do this in a meet, and we are so proud of him. Way to go Brody!!!

Happy Father's Day to 3 Amazing Dads

Happy Father's Day Jason! You are an amazing dad to our boys. I thank God every day that I have you as my husband and the boys have you as their father. You are such a great example for Brody and Colby, and I pray that they grow up to be like you...a man who loves God, family, and friends, who has an unshakable faith, who has an unbelievable work ethic, and who has a positive outlook on life. I love you more and more with each passing day! Thank you for everything you do!!

We had lunch at Jeremy and Tammy's house to celebrate Father's Day with Poppy. Mike, thank you for being a great dad to Jason and a great Poppy to our boys. We truly appreciate all of the support, love, and encouragement that you continue to provide us. We hope your day was wonderful!

To celebrate with my dad, we had dinner at Cheddars, which is one of the boys and my parents favorite restaurants. This Father's Day dinner was very special, because only days before, my dad had a heart attack. This heart attack came very unexpectedly. He is in great shape...probably better shape than most 20 year olds. In fact, he was at the YMCA (his daily routine) when he started having chest pains that would not stop. The staff called an ambulance and quickly got him to the hospital. He received one stint immediately, which helped the pain subside some. Then, two days later, they went back in and placed three more stints. He was discharged the next day with instructions to take it easy. My dad has never been good with taking it easy, and he was weed eating the yard a couple days later. Then, he was back at the Y a week later. He is such a strong and strong willed person, which is part of why I look up to him so much.

Daddy (Gacky), we are so happy that you are better now and that we were able to celebrate this Father's Day together. I love you so much, and I am so thankful that you are my dad. I couldn't have asked for a better dad! You provided me and Jeanine with unconditional love, and you were a great example for us. You didn't have to tell us how to live, because you showed us. Like you have always told me, "Actions speak louder than words." Thank you for being such an amazing dad to me and Jeanine and an amazing Gacky to our kids. We love you!

Brody's First Swim Meet

Brody's first swim meet was on Tuesday, June 14th at Bluegrass. Since this is all new to us, it was great having the first meet at our home pool. It was a long but fun day, and Brody did great! He competed in a Boys 6 and Under 25 Yard Freestyle Open and a Boys 6 and Under 100 Yard Freestyle Relay. He finished in 11th place for his individual race with a time of 1:01, which has already improved by 20 seconds in the last couple of weeks. I have a feeling he will continue to improve with each week. His relay team took 2nd place! We are so proud of Brody and how far he has come with his swimming. It was less than a year ago that he was hesitant to even jump in the pool by himself, and now, we can't keep him out of the pool!

Hitchcock Family Reunion

On June 11th, we went to Jeremy and Tammy's house for a Hitchcock Family Reunion. We never get to see Poppy's brothers, sister, and their families, so it was great spending some time with all of them. It was a beautiful day, and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. I hope we can do this again sooner than later!
