Colby's last day of Preschool

Colby had his last day of Preschool on Thursday, May 17.  This was a big year for us with him starting school.  I was so nervous in the beginning. It was only two days a week for 5 hours each day, but that was the most he had been on his own.  We had a couple of scares at the beginning of school where they called and said, "Colby doesn't look good and is saying his chest hurts." Those were scary calls for sure, but both times, he ended up being okay (just overheated on the playground) and the teachers were so great to call me immediately. His two amazing teachers, Ms. Patty and Ms. Sharon, definitely helped put me at ease.  I knew he was in great hands with them and the director, Ms. Connie.

We are so happy that Colby loved his first school experience!!!  He really enjoyed going to school every Tuesday and Thursday, learning new things, and playing with his many friends.  He is asking me daily when he gets to start Pre-K.  I hope he always loves going to school!!!

Colby and Ms. Sharon
We are definitely going to miss having Ms. Sharon next year!!

Brody, Ms. Patty, and Colby
Brody has had Ms. Patty once a week for the last two years.  She teaches Spanish to the Pre-K and Kindergartners.  He will definitely miss her next year!!  Luckily for Colby, he will still get to see her!

Psalm 23

Colby's preschool teachers this year, Ms. Patty and Ms. Sharon, worked with the kids on memorizing Psalm 23 as part of their Bible lessons.  I had no idea how well Colby was doing with this until I picked him up on Tuesday.  Ms. Patty handed me a little streamer to hang in his room that says, "I know Psalm 23."  I couldn't wait for him to recite it for me!

This makes my heart happy in so many ways!  We have been told numerous times since Colby's diagnosis that he will suffer from learning disabilities from being on bypass during his surgeries.  We also had the scare with his seizures at birth...the neurologists didn't know what type of damage, if any, those may have caused to his brain.  Now, at 3 years old, he has memorized this entire Psalm, knows all his letters, colors, can count to at least 25, can write his name (although he still needs help with the y), and seems to be right on track academically.  I guess this is Colby showing us once again that God is in control, and God has a plan for all of us..."For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  Jeremiah 29:11  Thank you God!

Mother's Day

I had an awesome Mother's Day again this year!  My day started with Jason and the boys spoiling me with some much needed new clothes.  After church, our families came over for lunch.  Jason took care of preparing the entire meal, so I wouldn't have to work on Mother's Day. I really am so lucky to have such a sweet and thoughtful husband!!  Having both of our moms and siblings all together was great!  The only way it could have been better is if Shug had been there!

I am blessed beyond belief with these two little guys, and I am thankful that God chose me to be their mom.  I just pray that I can be the mom that they deserve.

Family Reunion

On Saturday, we went over to Jeremy and Tammy's house for a Family Reunion with Nenny's family.  It was so good to spend some time with these family members that we normally only see once a year on Thanksgiving.  I hope that we are able to make this an annual event!

Carnival Day

On Friday, May 11th, Hendersonville Bible Kindergarten had their annual Carnival Day, and just like last year, it was a lot of fun!!  There was an inflatable ball pit, an inflatable jumpy, an inflatable tunnel, and an inflatable obstacle course with a big slide at the end.  I think Brody spent almost his entire time on the obstacle course and slide...just like last year!  Colby preferred the jumpy and the ball pit, but he did do the obstacle course and big slide with me one time.  Both boys were excited when Jason stopped by for a few minutes to play!

Successful Soccer Seasons

The boys ended their soccer seasons last Sunday afternoon with games followed by parties.  Brody received his fifth trophy, and Colby was super excited to receive his very first trophy!!  Both boys had a great season and lots of fun!
