Bluegrass Brunch with Santa

We had our annual Brunch with Santa at Bluegrass on Sunday, December 13.  This is one of my favorite Christmas traditions each year.  The boys always look forward to the food, the crafts, and of course seeing Santa.  As we do each year, we took some family pictures at home before going.  It amazes me how much they grow and change in one short year.

1st Grade Gingerbread Bake Off

On Tuesday, December 15th, the first graders had a gingerbread cookie bake off.  The kids used what they've learned about measurements and following directions to make gingerbread cookies from scratch.  We had a lot of fun making and decorating these cookies together. They looked great and tasted even better!

Colby's Gingerbread Play

Colby's class performed a Gingerbread Play for the holidays.  Colby played the Fox that ate the Gingerbread Man...snip snap.  This is such a cute play, and all of the kids did a great job!

First Indoor Soccer Tournament of the Winter

The Indoor soccer tournament season kicked off at Merrol Hyde on Sunday, December 6th.  Brody's team finished in second after a golden goal tie breaker in the championship game.  It was so much fun to watch these boys...they all played great!

Third Grade Field Trip

The third grade classes went to the Adventure Science Center on Friday, December 4th to learn all about space.  Brody was so excited to have both Jason and me come along for this field trip.  We had the best time with him and his friends.  I am reminded daily of how blessed we are to have our boys surrounded by so many wonderful school friends.

Colby's Thanksgiving Program

The first graders put on a Thanksgiving program on Tuesday, November 24th.  They sang songs, gave facts about the pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving, and performed a dance together.  They did a great job, and we had so much fun being there!

Thanksgiving Lunch at School

Jason and I loved having Thanksgiving lunch at school with the boys on Friday, November 13th.  We are very thankful for a great school with amazing teachers and staff.  We are also thankful for all of the families that we have grown so close to from school.  Merrol Hyde has been such a blessing for all of us, and we are thankful for sure!

Third Grade Field Trip

The third graders have been reading and discussing Charlotte's Web together as a class over the last few weeks, and on Friday, November 6, they went to the Nashville Children's Theater to see the play.  Watching this book come to life on stage was a great way to wrap up their Charlotte's Web study.

Halloween

The Joker and Batman were more than excited about their first Halloween in our new house.  We had some friends over for dinner and trick or treating, and I think they all had a great time!

First Grade Field Trip

On Thursday, October 29, the first graders went on a field trip to Red River Farms.  This is a beautiful farm, and the kids had a great time!  They learned about the life cycle of pumpkins, "planted" pumpkin seeds in a ziploc bag, picked a pumpkin and painted it, went on hay ride, did a corn maze, rode a barrel train, and played on the farm's playground.  It was a fun and exhausting day for all!!
