First Day of School

The boys went back to school on Colby's birthday this year, and they were so excited to be going to the same school!  It is hard to believe that Colby is starting Kindergarten, and Brody is starting 2nd grade.  Time is flying by fast...a little too fast for me!

Back to school is always a little emotional for me, but this year is filled with so many new emotions.  When Colby was diagnosed with a Congenital Heart Defect at our 20 week ultrasound, we were immediately told he would be developmentally delayed and probably struggle in school.  Then, when he had unexplained seizures at birth, the doctors were unsure of what damage might have been done to his brain.  With each open heart surgery, we were again warned of the delays and learning disabilities he would face because of being on bypass.  Basically, we have been told his entire life that he would have delays and struggles.

Well, Colby and God are proving everyone wrong!!  He is not only starting Kindergarten, but he is starting Kindergarten at a Magnet School.  Hundreds of upcoming kindergartners tested to get into this school, and Colby was one of only about 50 that passed their academic test. We are beyond proud of him and extremely thankful!  This is just one more reminder that God, and God alone, is in control, and He has big plans for this sweet boy and his half of a heart!
