High School Soccer Season Kicks Off

Game day!!  First preseason game of Brody's Sophomore season is tonight, and I can't wait to watch this team take the field!!  Let's go Hawks!

Burnin for Bucks

Our 6th Annual Burnin' for Bucks might be my favorite one yet!  33 teams of 4 challenged themselves, leaving everything they had on that floating floor, and it was all for CHD research.  I'm blown away every year by the support this event receives.

This year was made a little extra special by Colby, Nadia, Cain, and Dr. Doyle being there to help kick off the competition.  They are the "why" behind this incredible event, and they inspire so many with their stories!  Thank you Suha and Catherine for coming out so early on a Saturday morning!

This day would never run so smoothly and be so successful without our amazing Burn team!  Christine, thank you for all you do!  Caitlin, thank you for being our judge coordinator this year!  I hope you agree to take that role on every year.  The judges were legit...thank you to all who volunteered their time to judge.  Lori, thank you and Rusty for opening the gym and fully supporting this event.  Jeremiah, thank you for helping me start this event and making it better every single year.  I am not sure either of us ever dreamed this event would grow to the level that it is now.  We make a great team, and your friendship means so much to me!

Thank you to everyone who competed or came to cheer others on.  The love and energy in the gym during this event is like nothing I've ever experienced.  This is just one of the many reasons I love Burn!  I feel so blessed to be a part of this community!

$10,025 was raised for CHD Research at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!  You are changing the futures of those living with a congenital heart defect!  

 

Nashville SC Jersey Launch Festival

Fun times at the Nashville SC Jersey Launch Festival on Saturday!  Colby got the brand new jersey, saw his favorite player (Taylor Washington), and got to spend the day with his buddy, Lane.  It was a GREAT day!  

The only thing that would have made the day better was having Brody with us, but we are thankful he got to spend some time away with friends on a church retreat.  

We love Nashville SC and are more than ready for this season to kick off soon!

Snowball Dance

The MHMS Snowball Dance was on Saturday, February 11, and these kids looked awesome!  We are so thankful Brody has found such a great group of friends. 

Colby's Cardiology Check up

Colby's six month check up for his heart and liver yesterday made for a very long day, but we are so thankful for the great news we heard!  His heart function looks good, and Dr. Doyle has no concerns at this time.  His liver ultrasound actually looked better than the one he had a year ago!  We even got the ok to follow up in one year, instead of 6 months this time!  We are still waiting to hear back on all of his lab work, but we don't expect anything crazy to come from that.  This poor guy had to give up 12 vials of blood, but as always, he handled it like a champ.  He almost broke my hand during it (Ha!), but I love being there to hold his hand when he does get nervous. 

Life with CHD never gets easier.  I think we all get a little anxious before these checkups, because you just never know.  We just have to take his health one day at a time, one check up at a time, and when we get a good report, we celebrate and thank God for his goodness!
