Summer 2013 Swim Meets

The boys swam in 3 swim meets this summer, as well as the Nashville City Swim Meet on July 26.  They both showed growth and improvement with each meet, and we are extremely proud of them!

June 18: Swim Meet vs Willoughby
Brody:
25 yd Freestyle--22.51 / 1st place
25 yd Backstroke--26.89 / 1st place
50 yd IM--58.00 / 1st place
6 and under Relay Team--1st place
8 and under Medley Relay (Brody swam breast stroke)--2nd place

Brody was an Overall High Point Winner for this meet!!!

Colby:
Colby completed his 25 yd freestyle with no coach in the pool for the first time!!  Coach Kellyn and Coach Emily gave him a hand in the pool to help him grab the rope, but they did not have to get in.
This was a major improvement!  His total time was 4:39.

June 25: Swim Meet vs Fairvue
Brody:
25 yd Freestyle--20.95 / 2nd place
25 yd Backstroke--27.05 / 2nd place
50 yd IM--58.92 / 2nd place
6 and under Relay Team--3rd place
8 and under Medley Relay (Brody swam breast stroke)--2nd place

Colby:
Colby swam his lap with no help at all!!!  He grabbed the rope with no problems!  Total time was 4:52.
They needed an extra 6 and under boy for one of the relay teams, so Colby volunteered to swim another lap.  He was excited to be in his first relay!

July 16: Swim Meet at Bellemeade
Brody:
25 yd Freestyle--21.13 / 1st place
25 yd Backstroke--30.46 / 2nd place
50 yd IM--56.53 / 1st place
6 and under Relay Team--3rd place

Colby:
25 yd Freestyle--2:55 (He swam in one of the middle lanes for the first time ever, had no help at all, and took 2 minutes off of his time!)

July 26: Nashville Swim League City Meet
Brody:
25 yd Freestyle--19.43 seconds / 6th place out of 117 entries
25 yd Backstroke--26.51 seconds / 10th place out of 105 entries
50 yd IM--50.54 seconds / 4th place out of 54 entries

Brody took off time in each of his events, but his 50 yd IM was very impressive.  He took off 6 seconds, earning him 4th place.  He is also in an elite group of boys that broke the city meet record for this event.  He finished up the meet as the 6th place overall high point winner for the 6 and under boys!  We are so proud of him and how hard he worked this summer!

Colby:
25 yd Freestyle--1:43.94

We are so proud of Colby and his progress this summer.  When the summer started, he wouldn't even jump into the water without a coach in to catch him, but now he is able to swim by himself in any pool any time.  He swam the best he has ever swam at City Meet and took off over a minute from his best time!  There were several of us with tears in our eyes when he finished that lap!

The 6 and Under day at City Meet always has a theme, and this year, it was Prince and Princesses.  The Bluegrass Marlins always do a good job of dressing up, especially our coaches!!
