Kindergarten Walking Field Trip

The Kindergartners had their final field trip of the year on Friday, April 30.  It was a walking field trip to Nuvo Donuts, Capital Bank, and McDonalds.  Each business gave the kids a tour and taught them about what they do each day.  It was a great learning experience and a lot of fun!

Nuvo Donuts...

Capital Bank...

McDonalds...

It was a beautiful day, and we had a great time!  I am so thankful that I have been able to be a part of all of his field trips this year.  I am going to miss these fun trips next year!

Kindergarten Career Dress Up Day

On Wednesday, April 29, the Kindergartners dressed up as what they want to be when they grow up. Colby is not sure what he wants to be when he grows up, but for this day, he decided to be a fireman.  I think he makes a pretty cute fireman!!

Kindergarten Field Trip #4

On Tuesday, April 28, the Kindergartners went on their fourth field trip of the year, and I am happy that I was able to go along with them for the fun.  We started at Publix, where the kids were given a full access tour of the store.  They were also given some yummy samples!

The next stop was Richards and Southern, where the Calonge family gave the kids a tour of their facility and showed them all that goes into T-shirt printing.  A new recording artist, Ben Gallaher, was there during our visit discussing his merchandising, and he sang one of his original songs for the kids.  They loved it!  The tour finished with the Calonges printing the kids new "Class of 2027" t-shirts.

We ended this fun field trip at Moss Wright Park for a picnic and some playground time.  It was a beautiful day, and we had a great time!

Kids Rock Marathon 2015

For the last couple months, the boys and I have been running together after school and on the weekends.  On Sunday, April 26, they ran one final mile at the Kids Rock Event to reach their ultimate goal of 26 miles...a full marathon.

This was Colby's first time to do this event.  I cannot even describe how amazing it felt watching him run his little heart out and cross that finish line to receive his medal.  He worked hard over the last couple of months, and I hope he realizes what a huge accomplishment this is.

This was Brody's third time to do the Kids Rock Marathon.  He had planned to run the final mile by himself this year, but at the last minute, he asked me to run it with him.  It made me so happy that he wanted me by his side.

Running 25 miles over the last couple months took discipline.  It wasn't always easy to find extra time to run, but they made it a priority.  They set a goal, committed to reaching it, and followed it through to the end.  We could not be any prouder of them, and I am so thankful that I was able to be a part of every step!

Celebrate Literacy Awards

Back in February, Brody's class had the assignment to write and illustrate a story for the Celebrate Literacy competition.  Brody's book, The Snowman, was one of three stories chosen from his class to compete with other second grade stories in the county.  His story was then chosen from the county and sent on to compete with other second grade stories from all over the state.  We recently found out that The Snowman was awarded a silver medal in the State Competition!  On Thursday, April 23, a reception was held to honor all of the Sumner County Students that became state winners.  We are so proud of Brody and the others from Merrol Hyde that were recognized at this reception.

Kindergarten Fairy Tale Day

The Kindergartners dressed up as their favorite Fairy Tale Character on Thursday, April 23.  Colby was Peter Pan...

Kindergarten Field Trip #3

The Kindergartners went on another field trip on Friday, April 17th.  The fun started at the Ellington Agricultural Center.

After learning and playing at the Agricultural Center, we headed to the Farmers' Market for lunch and more fun.

We finished up the trip by walking across the street to explore the Bicentennial Mall.

I am so happy that I was able to go with Colby on this fun field trip!
