Cardiology Check-Up

We went for Colby's 6 month cardiology check-up on February 13.  There were no surprises or changes, which is always a good thing!  Of course, Colby was most excited about challenging Dr. Doyle to another fitness test. For some reason, he chose a sit up test this time, and Dr. Doyle beat him fair and square.  Not to worry, though, Colby still beat him in the race down the hallway!  I love the relationship that these two have.  It makes my heart overflow with happiness to know that Colby has been blessed with such an amazing doctor to keep him healthy.

Unfortunately, Colby had to wear a holter monitor for 24 hours as a routine check.  His heart rate stays very low, and Dr. Doyle just wants to keep an eye on exactly how low it gets on average.  As you can see, Colby was NOT thrilled about having to wear it to school.  He survived though!  We are thankful for an awesome teacher and super sweet class mates that made his day go by so quickly!

Basketball

Our boys had a great basketball season again this year!  It's always fun to watch them learn and grow in a sport, and they both had some big growth this season.  Colby is making free throws with no problems now, as well as playing some pretty impressive defense.  Brody is throwing up some 3 point shots and making many of them.  He was even able to score one in a game!!

Unfortunately, Colby's team came up short of the championship game this year, but I have no doubt they will make it there again next year!  They are such a great group of boys that play so well together as a team.

On the other hand, after a really tough season last year, Brody's team ended up on top of their age group this season!!  They took home the championship trophies and each cut a little piece of the net down.  They were of course all on cloud 9!!

Book Character Dress Up Day

For Book Character Dress Up day, Brody was Rafe from the Middle School Series, and Colby was Jack from High Tide in Hawaii (Magic Tree House Series).  Two things that I love about these costumes are 1) they were 100% planned and put together by the boys, and 2) I didn't have to spend a dime!!

Also, I'm super impressed by Brody's drawing of the actual character Rafe on his shirt.  His artistic ability continues to amaze me, and he sure didn't get it from me!

Burnin' for Bucks

The first ever Burnin' for Bucks took place on Sunday, February 25 at Burn Boot Camp.  We kicked off the event with a Trainer Challenge, which raised $385...forcing our Head Trainer, Jeremiah to complete 105 thrusters!!  Then, we held our Ultimate Burn Challenge with 16 teams of 4, raising $1,600!!  We rounded out the event with two kids camps and had 78 kids come participate!!  This raised $1,170!  This gives the Burnin' for Bucks event a grand total of $3,155!!

Burn Hendersonville will be combining this money with Colby's Bake Sale money to donate towards CHD research at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt!  We are so excited for this additional money going towards CHD research!!

The Burn Boot Camp Community is truly something special, and I am so thankful to be a part of it as a member, Trainer, and Ambassador!!
