Our 10th Annual Blood Drive and Bake Sale in honor of Colby was on Saturday, February 17th. I cannot believe this was our 10th event! It just doesn't seem possible!
We are very thankful that our 10th one was such a big success and so much fun! We had 94 people sign in to donate blood, and from those 94, the Red Cross was able to successfully collect 83 units of blood! 15 of these units were from first time donors, which is always awesome! We pray that these 15 new donors had a great experience and will continue to give blood and save lives in the future!
Our bake sale was also successful! After all direct donations and bake sale proceeds were counted, we ended up with $4945!! We are so excited to be able to donate all of this money towards CHD Research. So many little lives will be impacted by the research being done at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.
Since it was a big 10th year celebration, we had Sam the Balloon Man come and make balloon art for all the kids. We also had face painting, done by Angela Abigail (Sam the Balloon Man's wife), and our dear friends, the Brinkleys. These two activities were definitely a highlight for all of the kids (and some of the adults) that attended. I have never seen such amazing balloons or face painting in my life!! If you ever need a balloon artist or face painter, please contact Sam the Balloon Man!! You can find him on Facebook or at www.samtheballoonman.com.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all that attended the event, donated money or baked goods, prayed for the event, or helped us in any way. We are so thankful to be surrounded by such an amazing support system of friends and family. Thank you for loving us!
