Brody's Unexpected Last Game

Brody has played soccer for 14 years, and he has been very fortunate up to this point.  He has only had one major injury, which was a broken wrist several years ago.  Unfortunately, this all changed during last Tuesday nights game.  He went down in the first half right after this play pictured, and he didn't get back up. I've seen him go down enough over the years to know this time was different.  He was carried off the field and evaluated by our school's trainer.  He was unable to put any weight on it, so the trainer gave him a boot and some crutches.  We headed home after the game and tried to manage his pain the best we could overnight.

We went to the doctor first thing Wednesday morning and were told exactly what the trainer suspected.  He had sustained some damage to the arch in his foot.  An MRI the next day confirmed just how bad that damage was.  He suffered a Lisfranc Fracture.  This means no weight bearing for at least 6 weeks and a boot for 3 months minimum.  He goes back in two weeks for an x-ray to see if there has been any improvement at all.  If not, we will be discussing moving forward with surgery, which we definitely don't want him to need!

With it being Brody's senior year, this hit us pretty hard.  It doesn't seem "fair," but as we all know, life rarely is.  Brody has handled this with a maturity and grace that makes us beyond proud of him. He is finding ways to move that allows him to still be in school and work.  He is sad that he can't finish his senior soccer season, but he's determined to support his team the best he can from the sideline.

Please pray for Brody!  Pray he will not need surgery.  Pray that he is able to walk for his graduation.  Pray that his pain improves and his foot starts to heal.  We know God is good, and His plans are perfect, even when we don't understand them in the moment.

Colby Released to Play!

Colby was fully released to play on March 21st!  I know it was a tough few months for him physically and mentally.  It's hard to watch from the sidelines when all you want to do is play.  We are proud of him for hanging in there, and we are so happy to see him take that field again!  God is good!

Congratulations Carleigh and Dave!  We are so happy for you guys!

Spring Break in Europe

Brody spent Spring Break in Europe visiting Amsterdam, Brussels, and Paris.  I'm so thankful he had the opportunity to go and experience this trip with friends.  He had a lot of fun and made lots of great memories!  I can't imagine a better way for him to spend his final Spring Break of high school.

Burnin' for Bucks Year 8

Burnin for Bucks Year 8...WOW!!  $17,253.96 raised for CHD Research at the Monroe Carrel Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt!! To see this amount grow year after year is truly amazing!  I can't even express how grateful I am.  Kids with congenital heart defects deserve the best treatment options possible to give them long and healthy lives, and hopefully this money will help make that happen.  If it helps just one child, it's all worth it!

Thank you Burn Boot Camp Hendersonville!  You guys are heroes for stepping up and supporting this event...as competitors, judges, raffle participants, cheerleaders, or supporters. We appreciate each and every one of you!

Thank you Jeremiah for leading us well and programming tough but fun events.  Thank you Christine for all the planning.  Thank you Chelsea for stepping in wherever needed.  Thank you Lori and Rusty for opening the gym and supporting this cause.  Thank you Caitlin for heading up the judges and creating the most perfect score cards.  Thank you McKenzie for taking such beautiful pictures to remember this special day.  Thank you Cynthia for the healthy treats to keep us all fueled for the long day.  Thank you Jason, Brody, and Colby for always being by my side and supporting me!  I love you guys BIG!

Our annual check presentation to Dr. Doyle is coming soon!  Then, we start gearing up for Burnin for Bucks 2026!  Let's goooooo!!
