3rd of July Fireworks

On July 3rd, we had our annual Food and Fireworks get together at our house.  We had a large turnout this year...around 70 people!  Jason made barbecue, hamburgers, and hot dogs, and everyone brought delicious sides and desserts.  Jeremy and Tammy let us borrow their water slide, and Nick and Kelly let us borrow a baby pool.  These kept the kids well entertained while waiting for the fireworks to start!

The fireworks started around 9, and all the kids were ready to watch!  We are so lucky to be able to see the Drakes Creek Fireworks from our front yard.  It has been a lot of fun having friends over each year to enjoy these with us!

I wasn't able to get a group picture of all the kids this year, but Jason and I did manage to get a picture of each family.  I love looking back and seeing how much the kids have grown each year!

We had a fun and crazy group of friends here helping us celebrate.  Here are a few other pictures that were taken throughout the night.

Nashville Shores

Tuesday, June 26, was a bye week for the Swim Team, so the coaches organized a trip to Nashville Shores.  The boys have never been to a water park, and they were amazed at all of the different pools, slides, lazy river, etc.  It was an exhausting day, but it was so much fun!!!  Brody and Colby loved getting to play with all of the coaches!

Happy Birthday Nenny

On Sunday, June 24, we went to church and lunch with Nenny and Pa to celebrate Nenny's birthday.  Nenny and Pa are also celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary!!!    60 years...what an inspiration!!! Happy Birthday Nenny and Happy Anniversary!! We love you both!

Old Hickory Triathlon

On Saturday, June 23, Jason participated in his first Triathlon!  He entered as a relay team with two of our friends...Craig swam, Nick ran, and Jason rode.  The three of them decided to enter the day before the event, and they did great!  Each of them finished their part with amazing times! They took first place in the male relay teams and had the fastest finish time of anyone!  The boys and I had a lot of fun being there and cheering them on.  Maybe these three will team up again soon!

6 month Cardiology Appointment

On Tuesday, June 19, we went to see Dr. Doyle for Colby's 6 month follow up Cardiology Appointment. It has been over a year since his "final" heart surgery, yet I still got extremely nervous going into this appointment. I told someone the other day that I don't think the nervousness will ever completely go away when it comes to his little heart.

It turns out I was nervous for no reason this time! Colby is doing great!!! He has grown a couple inches in height...he's almost 3 feet tall now!! His blood pressure and EKG were great, and his sats were 90. We couldn't be happier!! Colby was really happy too when Dr. Doyle said he could stop taking his Lasix (diuretic). Colby figured out that it was the Lasix making him have to go potty so much in the first couple hours after taking it, and he did not like that!!!

Colby will go back in January for a 6 month checkup. At that time, they will do an echo to check on the fenestration hole that was purposely left open during his Fontan. This hole is necessary at first to help the body adjust to the change in blood flow. Sometimes, the hole will close on its own, but sometimes a cath procedure is needed to close it up. If the echo shows that the hole is still open, we will schedule the cath procedure for sometime next spring. Once this hole is closed, his sats will go up even more to the mid to upper 90s!!!! Absolutely amazing!!!

Happy Father's Day

This Father's Day was a great one!  The boys were so excited to pick out Jason's presents all by themselves.  They wanted to get him Gatorade for his bike rides, paint him a bird house, paint him pictures, and give him i Tunes gift cards.  I hope Jason loved it, because they really put some thought into each gift!

After church, we met Poppy, Jeremy, and his girls for lunch.

My dad, mom, Jeanine and her girls came over to our house for dinner.

Jason, you are an amazing dad!!  Thank you for being a great role model for our boys and loving all of us so much!!  I pray that Brody and Colby grow up to be just like you!  Based on the silliness in the picture below, I think we are headed in the right direction!!
