On Monday, June 27, Nashville Soccer Club sent a limo to pick us up at 8 AM. Colby normally doesn't love early mornings, but he was so excited, he didn't even seem to mind.
We were taken to the club's practice facility, where we were met by the GM and the Assistant GM. Colby was told that he would be signing a one day contract to be an official player of Nashville SC! With that contract came a jersey, a new pair of cleats, and lots of cool swag for the rest of us.
Brody and Colby were soon greeted by Taylor Washington, who took the boys to the locker room to meet the rest of the team before the morning film session and coach's meeting.
Next up was the actual training session, which Colby was able to take part in. It was so much fun watching him live out this experience! He was able to train as a player and help coach parts of the session. He took the coaching very seriously, which doesn't surprise any of us!!
When training wrapped up, Hany Mukhtar gave Colby a pair of his game worn cleats that were signed by him! I don't think this was planned. It was just a sporadic decision that Hany made after meeting Colby, and it was very much appreciated!
We were invited to eat lunch at the training facility and hang out with a few of the players and staff before heading home.
Colby was still kind of in shock on the ride home, as we all were. So much happened in those few hours, and I know that none of us will every forget any of it. The kindness shown to our family by every single player, coach, manager, and support staff was absolutely amazing!
